I started my career in Agrochemistry, studying at the Institut Supérieur d’Agriculture Vacil Kolarov de Plovdiv in Bulgaria and continuing to do a post doc in soil chemistry and composition in Guinea. Since 1992 I have worked at the University Gamal Abdel Nasser, Conakry and conducted research at CRVPM (National Centre of Research and the Evaluation of Medicinal Plants). This has allowed me to teach and research in areas such as agricultural chemistry and soil science, research and evaluation of plants and the quality control of soils and fertilizers. I am currently the co-ordinator for six internationally funded projects in partnership with the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew and Guinean partners, working towards a Red Data Book for Guinea, and identifying Important Plant Areas, Expanding Guinea's Protected Area Network including Important Plant Areas and Conservation of threatened tree species in three Important Tropical Plant Areas (IPZs) of Guinea. In my post as Director of HNG I am promoting visibility of the organisation and better collaboration between partners. I am co-author on 15 scientific publications and supervise a number of Master students. I can communicate effectively in French and Bulgarian and have intermediate English skills.
